Cognitive Therapy for PTSD in Children and Young People: ZOOM WORKSHOP PRESENTATION

Registration closes @12 noon on 20.05.25

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the many responses to childhood adversity; however, working with PTSD can raise anxiety in many clinicians. Cognitive Therapy for PTSD is recommended by NICE as the first line treatment for children and young people with PTSD. Through a combination of large group discussions and practise, this workshop will aim to:

Explore the different ways children and young people react to trauma and how to identify PTSD
Help participants gain confidence in formulating PTSD using the cognitive model
Develop skills in processing trauma memories and how to support children, young people, and their wider system to live alongside what has happened
Consider how a child’s context and family may impact on treatment
This workshop will provide space for clinicians to reflect on their own clinical practice and any potential barriers to undertaking this work.
